Chili Pepper Identification
Posted by KTC on 28 September, 2007
I think I’ve finally identified the Chili Pepper growing out on the back patio. It may be…the Jalapeño Chile Pepper. It’s the only one that fits in with the size, shape, maturity date, and conditions for growing. The flowers are also the right color.
Only time will really tell. It’s getting bigger by the day and I promised myself I wouldn’t poke my nose at it every sing…ok, more than once a day like I have been. I’m limiting myself to checking up on it every Saturday.
I feel so creative right now.
I mean, technically, I had nothing to do with the creation of this plant. The recombinant dynamics of its genetic history going back to the Great Ooze and whoever decided to cross pollenate its foreparents together had something to do with it, not me. Still, it’s growing out on my back patio and in one of my pots. I helped it grow with my own hands. I think I’ve got a bit of a right to preen.
I’m just happy it’s growing, preen or not. I’ve never actually had anything fully fruit before. I’ve had Basil grow but thats a leaf harvested and not a fruit. I don’t know, I feel weird. I should lay down and meditate upon this properly.
