I’m Baaaaack….

It has been some time since I last posted here. NaNoWriMo was and still is a success. I’m still writing my story. Though there isn’t the pressure to finish within a month like there was previously. I’m seriously considering participating in Camp NaNoWriMo when it comes up. I’ll have to read more into it.

At this point, I’m barely a third of the way into it and I’ve got so much more to write. I’m hoping I’m up to the task as it is building up to be quite a good story.

Among other things, namely my sweater. I’ve been sporadically working on that since the end of NaNoWriMo and have made some progress in the length of the body. I’ve added another cake of yarn to the Mir Ist Kalt sweater and caked the rest of it for processing as needed. I’m hoping to get this thing finished before the end of the year but, knowing my notoriously slow knitting, it doesn’t seem likely.

At this point, that’s the only project I’m working on as I wind down from the stress of November.

During my hiatus from the blog, a few things happened. I found my old hat and scarf set, so no immediate need to make a new set. I won’t freeze in the descending chilly weather.

I also managed to finally get my glasses. It is great to finally see things again without using my manual zoom function or having blurry vision. I also took the Sweet Pickle Organic Peppers out of commission. They’ve been replaced by Mega Cherry Tomatoes. Let’s see. What else? Gave one of the pineapple babies away and it is being cared for very well. My home got new windows. Yadda Yadda Yadda.

I’ve also been social. I’ve been going to *shock*gasp*awe* events held at local establishments like the Libraries. Finally, I am learning from the Khan Academy and Duolingo again.

I’m doing the Computer programming section and struggling through programming languages. I think I’m starting to get an inkling of it. However, only time, practice, and more practice will help me. Right now, I’m working in JavaScript but my ultimate goal is to learn Python.

For Duolingo, I am, of course, taking German. It is remarkable to me how much I’ve retained. I took to the app like a fish to water. My language level may be Beginner/Basic but I retain the words very well. Next step, an academic course in the language.

That’s about it. Until the next time, have a safe and fantastic journey around the Sun. Take care, my friends. Rolling on the floor laughingRed heartRainbow

Infinite Potential

Right now, I think I know what it feels like to be an un-sprouted seed, on the cusp of bursting forth into the cacophonic din of Life’s heady mix. I’m feeling that way and I’m not quite sure why. I’m long past the age of getting pangs of idealistic wanderlust. Yet, suddenly, I want to travel about, see all the things and do all the adventures. Ugh, is there a pill for this? Only kidding. Only just.

More realistically, I want to travel with my mind and write all the things. I am attempting to melt this Antarctic sized Writer’s Block I’ve got wedged in my brain but to no avail. In fact, the mere presence of it has crept over into my knitting and crocheting. Oh yes, I have Yarnblock or Fiberblock. Is there such a thing? The mere thought of my large scale projects gets me exhausted. So, I am looking forward to a small scale commission from my friend, Valerie. She wishes for me to make her Monster Slippers and I shall oblige, for her, free of charge. Something small, bright, fun and colorful could be just the thing to knock this creative blockage out of me.

If there’s one thing I’ve been doing well, it has been escapism. I’ve been re-watching Torchwood – Children of Earth for the umpteenth time. No spoilers here. All I will say is that it is a fantastic series and well worth watching.

No news about My Not So Secret Garden yet. The container garden and Aerogarden are doing lovely but I haven’t heard word one from the liaison for the community gardens since we talked a few months ago. I’m on the list. However long it takes, I’m willing to wait.

My Peppers sprouted today actually. I’m sitting on the fence about putting them under the Aerogarden’s light hood. Due to the Omega block weather patterning, we haven’t gotten much sun lately, so, if it’s cloudy tomorrow, I’m going to risk it and put the peppers as close as I dare to the hydroponically grown plants.

That’s about it until something interesting or exciting (or both) happens. Really missing Lotta right now.

Later!

Obrigada Shawl Completed

2016-02-14 17.48.19

Now that the shawl is completed, all I need to do is save up the money to send it off to its new Human.

Here’s another picture of my view right now aside from this computer. Every last one of these tomatoes is green. Just my luck.

2016-02-19 21.36.43

In truth, I’m very exhausted right now but I cannot get to sleep due to so many people deciding to call, message, etc. either me or this house. I’m really REALLY hoping to catch up on my sleep tonight.

Incidentally, I’m looking to make some more friends on NaNoWriMo’s website. If you’re planning to participate this year and you’re interested in being friends, please feel free to add me. I’m “xantedeschia” on that site as well.

As much as it was difficult to do, I really enjoyed the creative process that came about during NaNoWriMo.

Flotsam Musings

NaNo may be over but revisions are coming up and I’m no further along in my writing than the last day. I really must take some time out of my days to write a few words. I also have the other story I promised to work on to look at again. Hopefully, I will get some of this completed and or at least worked on after I finish this doll I’m working on.

Time management skills just fly out of the window when one is enamored, I suppose. The very act of concerning oneself for another person’s well being is enough to disrupt the entire process of creativity. Still, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

On to other matters before I lose my train of thought in a puddle of love.

Pictured above is the first blooming I’ve seen on the second or lesser tomato plant in the Aerogarden of Hope. Both plants are getting very large and are filling in the space where the Jalapeno pepper plant once was quite nicely. I’ve already shaken the flowers up, so I should start getting (fingers crossed) tomatoes within a few week’s time.

All the other plants are growing very well as well. I’m teetering on the brink of buying another Aerogarden so I can have fresh herbs again. I really loved that and the Aerogarden Bounty looks like such an interesting model to have. The Maternal Parental also wants a lesser model Aerogarden so she can have fresh Kale.

I finally have the yarn for Sam’s Boba Fett amigurumi doll. I hope to get to making it today after I finish Mike’s Hobbes doll.

I’ve even managed to make The Maternal Parental a hat finally.

It’s hard to tell because I have it on a purple chair but it’s in that Claret yarn she picked out ages ago for her scarf and hat set. I’ve yet to make her the matching scarf but I will do before it gets cold. Lately, we’ve been having near 60 – 70 fahrenheit days. Not much call for a hat in that kind of weather.

Much to my chagrin, I still have yet to make my own stuff for Winter. This is getting ridiculous with how long it is taking me to get this done. I have a bunch of yarn for the task, so I’ll get to it ASAP. I don’t want to be freezing cold while everyone else has scarves, hats, and gloves on.

In the meantime, back to work. Later.

Shining Brightly In The Dark

A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.

–Madeleine L’Engle

So, I have the beginnings of a book. It is nowhere near completion and I have more than the 50,000 words required for NaNoWriMo thus far. I validated on the 22nd of November. I’m dedicated to following this one through. This is the longest string of words I’ve put together in my life and it’s coherent. It’s solid. It’s pretty good actually. At least, I think so. As soon as I’m further along, I’ll update the PDF file and pass it along to my friend for his perusal.

One of my SOs asked me when it was going to be completed. I admit to being a bit peeved at the rush on the timetable. It’s not like there’s a deadline for me to write this. This book is for my own personal accomplishment in writing. As it stands, I am writing as quickly as I possibly can, as much as I can. For example, my plan is to do 6,500 words today, tomorrow, and Tuesday before giving myself a much needed break on Wednesday. I haven’t been sleeping like I should or doing things I normally would be doing in place of the writing. I’ve never felt this way before. It’s like something has smashed inside of me and opened the floodgates on the innate ability I have to write things. I love it. This feeling is exhilarating.

Waiting in the background for this novel to be completed are several projects and another story I need to write a continuation on. I wrote a story in 2006 and finally posted it to Adult-FanFiction and Literotica a little over a month ago with the title Unintentional Advances. The chief complaint about it has been that I didn’t flesh out one of the characters enough and that I didn’t give a less ambiguous ending. My intention with the story was mainly to write from the one character’s perspective, but I concur that more could have been said about the other character, so a revisit is warranted. The ambiguous ending was intended to give the reader a chance to make up their own story (hopefully a nice one) for the two characters but, apparently, everyone wants me to write it out. I’m up to it. I just need to get back into the characters. I laid them to rest in 2006 when I wrote the story and only dusted it off to edit for publishing and give it a title (Thanks, Brandon, for your help with the title).

On the project front, I have an unfinished Hobbes head staring at me with its Darice button eyes. It’s for my friend on the occasion of his birthday in less than a month’s time. I also still have socks, a doily, a stole, a blanket, a Boba Fett, and a sweater to make. In addition to this, December is supposed to be the month I start the In Love With Color throw. I also, still, haven’t made my winter gear. So, I’m going to be quite busy over the next few weeks.

At some point during all of this, I may do a vlog. A long vlog too. Not a short, update on the Aerogarden or anything but a proper scripted vlog featuring things.

For now though, I need tea. Lots and lots of tea. Later.

It’s Getting Real Rather Quickly

I had quite forgotten I’d finished a significantly long (for me) story at around this time of year in 2013. Thank you, Facebook’s On This Day, for reminding me. I’m going to take that as a positive indicator that I can do NaNoWriMo and stop panicking.

Also, new vlog coming up soon-ish. I got a 128gb card for my phone which freed up my 64gb card (999 minutes) for my camcorder rather than the 2gb (30 minutes) card I was using. Now, it’s only battery life holding me up and my camcorder can film while plugged in so…it’s just a question of finding a good angle to position the camera or cord with length to make that possible.

Yesterday was the twenty-seventh anniversary of the death of one of my greatest friends. She died in a fire in 1988 ten days shy of her eighth birthday. For the first time since then, I haven’t gotten hyper morbid or super depressed. I suppose that’s progress? When I finish this novel, I’ll see about dedicating it to her memory.

Come 15 October, I’m not going to be online as much as I normally am as I’m fully dedicated to completing this novel. I’ll try to check in from time to time though and I’ll definitely be back after 30 November hopefully with a completed book under my proverbial belt.

The Rainstorm II socks are a little over half complete now. I should have them done just in time for my semi-hiatus. I sincerely hope, because everything except dear ones, eating, bathing, and other necessities is getting put on hold starting 15 October.

Anyone got any good writing music recommendations to keep me motivated during this?

Oh yes, I’m getting a newer, better desk on Wednesday. Finally! Yay!

I’m lugging 124lbs of material up my stairs by myself tomorrow before doing a two person effort by my lonesome. I reckon I’m good for it though as I’ve previously put together the television stand mostly by myself and two bookcases completely by myself and they’re all by the same manufacturer, South Shore.

I think that’s everything. I wish you all the best during this month and a half of minimal communication. Now I go to knit. Later!

Found My Old Autobiography

Several years ago, I wrote out a brief outline of my life. It’s around twenty pages and growing. I did it mainly as a form of catharsis due to all the negative stuff I’ve had happen in my life. It worked too, so I’d highly recommend this as a supplement to therapy. In its current form, it goes from ages 0 – 27 years or, roughly, the years 1981 – 2008. I have plans to expand upon it up to the present day (I’m now 34) over the next few days as a means of getting my creative juices flowing for NaNoWriMo.

In other less boring news, I’ve harvested all the rest of the Jalapeno peppers.

I was watching YouTube’s Praxxus55712 and he explained how taking the first flush of peppers off would yield another two or three harvests down the road. So, up the stairs I went and cut the little fiends off of the plant. Already, there are new flowers coming in and signs of more growth. I’m really hoping that the tomatoes catch up with the pepper plant soon. From the looks of things, I might have to raise the hood light again.

Now, I just have to figure out what to do with all the jalapeno peppers I have. If you, my dear readers, have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments? I was thinking Nachos or homemade salsa or something. So far, I’ve been putting them in my eggs but that gets old quickly. Plus, everyone around me is a lightweight. So, giving them away isn’t an option.

Onto Project Central. Nothing is happening there. I’ve been so busy chasing down the Maternal Parental for some quality time that I haven’t been doing much with my projects. We’ve been trying to look at the last Hobbit movie but she gets sleepy, then I do, then she wants cigarettes. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. I should just focus on my own stuff for now given I’ve signed up for something so big as NaNoWriMo but I like spending quality time with her.

The Caregiver’s Cardigan is only a few more rows completed. Somehow, I don’t think I’ll make the deadline for NaKniSweMo for this thing. Still, as long as I get it done before the Holidays, I’ll be happy.

The Mystery Stuffed Toy hasn’t been touched since I mentioned it in the vlog days ago. If I focus on any project, it’ll probably be that one. I can bust it out in a day or so of crocheting compared with days and days of knitting for the Caregiver’s Cardigan.

Doily and various other projects…*hangs head in shame*

I’ll get to them all eventually. I should probably focus on them once NaNoWriMo is over with so I can have winter accoutrement. I’ve still not finished my winter gear.

The next vlog should come this weekend, if I can squeeze in the time and manage the quiet. I’m up in the air about what to read though. It’ll either be something I’ve written (fanfiction or original story) or another Fastback Horror series book.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to take a moment of “me time” and read the rest of Julius Caesar’s Commentaries on the Gallic War before binging on Paul Bettany and Karl Urban movies.

Later!
