So Yeah…Change Is Good

After years…nay almost decades being KaliTime Camaralzman, I have finally made a change for uniformity in my online life. I’ve been slow bleeding the IchbineineTomate KTC handle into my different accounts across the web for some time now. If it has been a changeable thing, I’ve been changing it. I guess I’m just outgrowing the handle of KaliTime.

I will still respond to it if you call me by that handle but for all intents and purposes, I’m now IchbineineTomate KTC or “Tomate” as some like to call me.

I kind of figured the big Mega Cherry Tomato in my hand gave it away? If you think this is bad, consider that I have to redo all my YouTube videos. Crying face

Nothing more to say about it really.

Until the next time, have a safe and fantastic journey around the Sun. Take care, my friends. Rolling on the floor laughingRed heartRainbow

My First Formal Vlog. Yay!

First vlog. Yay!

I finally did it. I finally put a vlog up on YouTube that features me for an extended period of time. *cringe*

I am so exhausted right now. I need a new computer or a faster processor on the one I have. I’ve uploaded larger files from my phone at a quicker rate. Still, it’s done. Now that I’ve completed this task, I can go do some writing and then some crocheting.

Catching Up…

So…I organized most of my yarn stash. It’s getting to be unruly and uncontrollable. I have around two hundred pounds of yarn and crochet thread here. I know this because I had to lift it all.

Honest to goodness, I’m not buying anymore yarn or thread anytime soon. I really don’t have the space or the money to do it. So, for now, I’m focusing on getting my list of projects on Ravelry that I have the yarn and thread for down. That seems a noble goal.

Aside from that, I’ve finally got a darning egg and stranding guide. I predict my socks being properly fixed in the future and colorwork being done.

I’ve also gotten two new books. Yeah, I know. I said I wasn’t going to get them but I did.

One is called Hand Dyeing Yarn and Fleece: Custom-Color Your Favorite Fibers with Dip-Dyeing, Hand-Painting, Tie-Dyeing, and Other Creative Techniques by Gail Callahan and the other is called Think Outside The Sox: 60+ Winning Designs from the Knitter’s Magazine Contest by Elaine Rowley. I’ve flipped through both and they look very good. The patterns I saw in Think Outside the Sox look mouthwatering. I just hope I’m up to making them. I’ve got just one more book to get and this truly will be the last book I get for a while. It’s called Star Wars Crochet by Lucy Collin and that one is due to come out in May.

Last of the yarn for a while – Purchased
Last of the books for a while – May 2015.

Right now, I’m supposed to be reading Knitted Lace of Estonia by Nancy Bush but I’ve been sidetracked by the Great Search for Bluetooth Earphones. I got a pair of Arctic P311s from Amazon but they were defective in that the microphone didn’t work. How useless is that for a phone hookup? Going on hope alone, I bought a second pair in the color I actually wanted in the first place figuring lightning wouldn’t strike twice so to speak. I lucked out in that the new ones work like a charm and they’re green to match my everything. Since I can’t return the black ones without incurring a charge, I’m giving them to the Maternal Parental so she can listen to her JW programs when on the go or when at home and she doesn’t want to disturb me. The positive thing about these earphones is their battery life: 20+ hours as far as I’ve tested them.

Still haven’t finished Hut Von Mike die Schlafmütze or the Cosmos Doily Madness. I am closer to completion on the hat though, so that’s something. I’m now into the K6P2 ribbing and about three inches from closing the top. Thankfully, this is not a priority or paid project. If it were, I’d be so fired by now. LOL

Tomorrow is going to be baking day. I had a cold but it’s gone now and I had thrown my back out but the pain is lessening, so I figured I’d get something accomplished in the way of cookery before the end of the weekend. Breadworld has changed the layout of their site but this is the recipe I’m making sans raisins. However, tonight I knit. Later. 🙂

Finished The Cosmos Practice Doily!!!!!!

I like this pattern as it’s a challenge but I did have trouble with some of it.

For my own future notes:

Round 5 – The treble crochet cluster stitches are a monster. Gently wriggle the hook through these if you want to keep your hook…and your eyes protected from flying broken hook heads.

Round 8 – Very confusing to read but written correctly. Pay close attention to detail on this round.

Round 11 (Setup round for Round 12) After doing the three treble crochets with the chain 3 on either side, be sure to do SEVEN consecutive chain five, single crochets BEFORE you do the next three treble crochets with a chain 3 on either side. Anything else will cause nightmares.

Round 12 – Remember the mnemonic: “First comes the queen, then the king”. In essence, first comes the more elaborate treble crochet grouping (Queen), then the chain 5 single crochets twice in the loops, then the less elaborate treble crochet grouping (King), then two more chain 5, single crochet twice in the loops.

The pattern actually isn’t complicated, excepting those parts. Just a lot of trebles, chains and single crochets with a few double crochets and slip stitches thrown in for good measure.

Next up on my agenda, I will start The Cosmos Doily Madness. Then, later, I will knit some on the Hut Von Mike die Schlafmütze as my hands need rest from using the small hook.

Busy Day

Today was a very productive day. Now that I’m shaking the last vestiges of antibiotic sleep from my system, I’m getting a lot done.

I am currently in the middle of baking bread. I’m making two more loaves of sandwich bread and I will probably be making rolls as well. It depends on how long it takes me to make the bread and how tired I am at the end of it.

In addition to this, I cleaned up half the kitchen. Did the dishes, partially cleaned the stove and got up a bunch of stuff that was laying around. Next, I’m going to do the laundry for myself and the kitchen, degrease the baking sheet and then clean my room if there’s enough time before 8pm EDT.

On the crafting front, I am almost completed Mike’s left glove. Once my hands are free of flour and cleaner, I’ll probably get back to knitting sometime later tonight. Also on the crafting front, I heard back from that baby’s blanket commission finally. Apparently, socks are also wanted as well as…more crocheted hats. WTF?! Since I’ve got half the materials already, I figured I might as well fulfill this last order but, after this, I’m not doing it. It’ll give me a chance to rebuild my savings over the last order fiasco.

Finally wading back into online chatting this weekend after so long away. I’ve really missed everyone.

Oh yeah, I voted. I got my absentee ballot this afternoon and filled it out right away. Now, I’ve just got to mail it in. I like this kind of voting. No pressure, I was able to carefully consider my options and I don’t have to worry about people looking over my shoulder during the voting process.

Now, I’ve just got to get the rest of my self appointed chores done. Sloth is setting in, so I’d better end this here. Good night, everyone!

In The Works…Still In Shock…

Wow, what an interesting turn of events this has been!

On 5 November 2013, I kicked the Agoraphobia in the teeth. I followed it up with a right cross to its jaw when I met with a man who is now my very good friend. I’d known this man for a little over a year via a website we’re both members of but hadn’t talked with him much prior to a fortnight ago. Man, am I glad we started conversing because he is an awesome friend. 🙂

On 8 November 2013, I committed upon the agoraphobia a furtherance of violence by giving it a good swift kick in the gonad region. I went with this same friend to see Thor: The Dark World. This was the first time I saw a movie, in a movie theater, since 2001 when I saw the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring with another very good friend. Yep, that long ago. I have to say, it was worth it. We had a lot of fun talking, walking around and eventually seeing most of the movie. It’s a long boring story about Fandango crediting my card with the wrong ticket time in the system.

On 23 November, I’m planning on giving the Agoraphobia a good upper cut to the gut. The Baltimore Science Fiction Society is holding a Doctor Who 50th Anniversary thing and I’m determined to go with my new friend and two of his friends. At some point, before or after the meeting, we’re going for pizza…mmm pizza, at a place called Matthew’s Pizza over in East Baltimore.

So, as of this moment, I’m very happy. 🙂

Well, mostly happy. Remember those socks? The ones I wanted to finish within a months time several months ago? Yeah… They’re not done yet. I’m still working on socks one and two out of four. The positive is that I’m into the feet of the socks but the negative is that I’m still working on friggin’ socks one and two. I’ve still got twenty one rounds to knit before I can close the toes. I just need for this to be over soon. I want to work on other things now. I’ve even jumped to other projects while letting this one collect dust on my table along with the others. *sad sigh*

That’s not good for productivity.

On the positive, I recently bought a plethora of yarn from Knit Picks, including three hanks of Diadem in Fluorite. I know I wasn’t supposed to but I did it and nothing is going to change that. I got so much yarn, I could barely fit it inside Yarn Bin Overladen. I’m just glad I have a separate yarn bin to keep all the other yarn I plan on getting in.

In addition to that, I got an order for hats I’m going to fill by January. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! They’ll be knit… AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!

I swear to do my best. I’ve got to mail a picture of both the knitted and crocheted hats to my customer to see which is preferred. Despite it being easier to crank out the crocheted hats, I hope they choose the knitted. I need the challenge to fire up my blood. I’m just plain bored with the crocheted hats at this point. Anyway, I’ve got to do ten hats by January. It’s doable, surely?

Celebratory Yays

I am finally back to exercising. I did a full extended workout tonight which is the first of eight weeks worth of workouts for all the missed days I had. I should be up to my old routine by early October. Incidentally, I lost five pounds and now weigh 250lbs. 🙂

In other news, I’ve started a new project. The finger on my other hand, my knitting hand, is now injured with a cut, so I started a crocheting project to pass the time until it heals. I’m calling it the Scrap Yarn Shiver Stopper Mini and I am, so far, eleven rounds into it.

I’m really just trying to get rid of the scrap acrylic yarn from Lion Brand and TLC since they’ve got such similar textures. I was going to roll it all into a giant Dreamy Lace Baby Throw but I figured one major crocheting project is enough this year. The pattern for this blanket is called the Rainbow Ripple Baby Blanket and can be found via a link on this page. This project is my “away from home” crafting. I plan to take it with me to Doctor’s appointments for the waiting room, bus rides and other things that tend into the mind numbingly boring.

That’s about it. I’m going to go and get some water. I haven’t been hydrating like I should lately. Later. 🙂
