Please forgive the state of this blog. I was so angry over the Picasa fiasco, that I deleted my pictures from the Google servers. I am now repopulating the images into the blog posts. Given that I’m a verbose silly person, this is going to take some time to fill the hundreds of posts I have with images in them. I do have all my pictures though, so it shouldn’t be a problem just replacing the html with the new links to images.

It’s just going to take some time.

Incidentally, I’ve decided to upload to WordPress.com directly. They’ve changed a bit since the last time I looked into hosting my images here. With a little bulk resizing, thanks to FastStone, I’ve now got 2gb of pictures down to a little under half that size. Given that I haven’t used all the photos I uploaded originally to Picasa in posts, this should be sustainable for the short term. When it gets to the point where the allotment is full, I’ll just try to make an allowance to purchase a premium account. Crying face

It’s going to be very interesting seeing if I can scrounge up the $99 per year to do this. I really love my blog though, so, I’ll have to make a way.

Image Hosting Woes

For several years now, I’ve been using Picasa as my image host. They functioned very well as an image host for my blog and I was quite happy with their service.

Today, while logging in to grab a picture for a post, I saw a notice at the top of the page. Apparently, they’re not going to be operating anymore. So…I’m in a rush to find a new, free host. I’m leaning toward Photobucket but, if there are any other reasonable options out there, I’d love to hear about them.

It’s Getting Real Rather Quickly

I had quite forgotten I’d finished a significantly long (for me) story at around this time of year in 2013. Thank you, Facebook’s On This Day, for reminding me. I’m going to take that as a positive indicator that I can do NaNoWriMo and stop panicking.

Also, new vlog coming up soon-ish. I got a 128gb card for my phone which freed up my 64gb card (999 minutes) for my camcorder rather than the 2gb (30 minutes) card I was using. Now, it’s only battery life holding me up and my camcorder can film while plugged in so…it’s just a question of finding a good angle to position the camera or cord with length to make that possible.

Yesterday was the twenty-seventh anniversary of the death of one of my greatest friends. She died in a fire in 1988 ten days shy of her eighth birthday. For the first time since then, I haven’t gotten hyper morbid or super depressed. I suppose that’s progress? When I finish this novel, I’ll see about dedicating it to her memory.

Come 15 October, I’m not going to be online as much as I normally am as I’m fully dedicated to completing this novel. I’ll try to check in from time to time though and I’ll definitely be back after 30 November hopefully with a completed book under my proverbial belt.

The Rainstorm II socks are a little over half complete now. I should have them done just in time for my semi-hiatus. I sincerely hope, because everything except dear ones, eating, bathing, and other necessities is getting put on hold starting 15 October.

Anyone got any good writing music recommendations to keep me motivated during this?

Oh yes, I’m getting a newer, better desk on Wednesday. Finally! Yay!

I’m lugging 124lbs of material up my stairs by myself tomorrow before doing a two person effort by my lonesome. I reckon I’m good for it though as I’ve previously put together the television stand mostly by myself and two bookcases completely by myself and they’re all by the same manufacturer, South Shore.

I think that’s everything. I wish you all the best during this month and a half of minimal communication. Now I go to knit. Later!

Shelob Lives

I was downstairs with The Maternal Parental arguing about the watching of movies when something large flickered across the carpet and under the television stand. From it’s movements, I knew it to be one of the foul creatures that serve the Dark Lord but didn’t know how to get it from under the stand to slay the beast.

The Maternal Parental laughingly suggested that it might be a cricket.

Ha.

As if Jiminy ever came in such a size and with such a movement? I knew the great evil for what it was. I sought, against all my fear, to slay the beast for the good of the Shire but it slinked away into the coat closet before I could get to it. Now, every shadow is pregnant with its memory and every sound an echo of its footfalls. I am haunted and hunted by its very presence in these hallowed halls.

I beseech you, my noble friends, come to the aid of this house in our hour of need as we are besieged by this terror.

Did I mention the second flitting shadow even larger than the first that scuttled through the kitchen? I am hoping against reason that was a simple mouse. Yet, in my steady gaze upon the other foul creature, I cannot be sure it was what I hope for it to be.

The minions of the Dark Lord grow bold in their reconnoiter of the domains of myself and the Maternal Parental.

Found My Old Autobiography

Several years ago, I wrote out a brief outline of my life. It’s around twenty pages and growing. I did it mainly as a form of catharsis due to all the negative stuff I’ve had happen in my life. It worked too, so I’d highly recommend this as a supplement to therapy. In its current form, it goes from ages 0 – 27 years or, roughly, the years 1981 – 2008. I have plans to expand upon it up to the present day (I’m now 34) over the next few days as a means of getting my creative juices flowing for NaNoWriMo.

In other less boring news, I’ve harvested all the rest of the Jalapeno peppers.

I was watching YouTube’s Praxxus55712 and he explained how taking the first flush of peppers off would yield another two or three harvests down the road. So, up the stairs I went and cut the little fiends off of the plant. Already, there are new flowers coming in and signs of more growth. I’m really hoping that the tomatoes catch up with the pepper plant soon. From the looks of things, I might have to raise the hood light again.

Now, I just have to figure out what to do with all the jalapeno peppers I have. If you, my dear readers, have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments? I was thinking Nachos or homemade salsa or something. So far, I’ve been putting them in my eggs but that gets old quickly. Plus, everyone around me is a lightweight. So, giving them away isn’t an option.

Onto Project Central. Nothing is happening there. I’ve been so busy chasing down the Maternal Parental for some quality time that I haven’t been doing much with my projects. We’ve been trying to look at the last Hobbit movie but she gets sleepy, then I do, then she wants cigarettes. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. I should just focus on my own stuff for now given I’ve signed up for something so big as NaNoWriMo but I like spending quality time with her.

The Caregiver’s Cardigan is only a few more rows completed. Somehow, I don’t think I’ll make the deadline for NaKniSweMo for this thing. Still, as long as I get it done before the Holidays, I’ll be happy.

The Mystery Stuffed Toy hasn’t been touched since I mentioned it in the vlog days ago. If I focus on any project, it’ll probably be that one. I can bust it out in a day or so of crocheting compared with days and days of knitting for the Caregiver’s Cardigan.

Doily and various other projects…*hangs head in shame*

I’ll get to them all eventually. I should probably focus on them once NaNoWriMo is over with so I can have winter accoutrement. I’ve still not finished my winter gear.

The next vlog should come this weekend, if I can squeeze in the time and manage the quiet. I’m up in the air about what to read though. It’ll either be something I’ve written (fanfiction or original story) or another Fastback Horror series book.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to take a moment of “me time” and read the rest of Julius Caesar’s Commentaries on the Gallic War before binging on Paul Bettany and Karl Urban movies.

Later!

Interesting Turn of Events

Several months ago, my laptop died on me. It was a Dell Inspiron 17R for the people keeping score. Luckily, I’d backed everything up and had started using my Desktop (Dell Inspiron 560 for those keeping score) by the time the laptop became problematic.

Fast forward to last night. We had a power surge/outage that lasted several minutes. By this time, I’d backed up to various Cloud services and was still in the process of saving to get a new computer. I woke up this morning to the Amber Light of Death. I’m really hoping against hope that this can be fixed by a small replacement part. Otherwise, it’ll be months before I can save up enough money to get a system that can handle my needs.

In other news, my Equality Salsa Garden of Hope is really taking off.

image

Seriously hoping that html takes. I am currently working on a tablet and cell phone for all my Internet access. Could be worse. At least I’m not completely cut off.

The Equality Salsa Garden of Hope is currently twenty-four days old. All the plants are growing in a healthy manner and I look forward to having tomatoes and jalapeño peppers in a few more weeks.

Not much else is happening here. It’s hotter than hell, so I’m pretty much staying indoors with my DVD/Blu-ray collection. Going to go downstairs in a bit to watch a marathon of Doctor Who, Marvel movies and whatever else I can pull from my media shelf.

Take care, Peoples of the Sun. 😄💚🌈

Say Hello To My Little Friends

As you can see, I’m making a voodoo doll…no. Just kidding. Actually, this is the as yet unfinished Birthday Buddy Bunny for my little cousin. I’m hoping to get her finished by tonight and mailed off by Saturday. I’m incredibly tired right now though. So, I may have to ship it Priority and hope it gets there on or before her birthday.

In other news, my Aerogarden has shown quite significant growth among its plants. It’s almost unrecognizable from three weeks ago. Surprised smile

The Chives haven’t changed much but everything else is shooting up quite nicely. I will admit to eating a few…or more…of the leaves off of these plants over the past few weeks. Part of it was pruning, part of it was my being hungry. That’s all about to change though.

Starting today, I am not going to do anything to the Aerogarden of Hope except give it water. I want to see how far this machine can go as far as sustaining plants. Better to find it out now with the much less fickle herbs than when I get the tomatoes and peppers sitting in the Aerogarden.

I did a vlog on the Aerogarden of Hope’s progress tonight but I’m really not happy with the quality of it. So, I’m going to shoot another video tomorrow once I’ve gotten some rest. I’ve been up the past day and a half transferring most of the media on my computer to BD-RE disks. It is exhaustive, mind numbing, boring and tiring work but someone’s got to do it. Now that some 300gb of space is free on my computer, I can relax and enjoy how much more quickly it goes. I can also take my now portable media and look at it on a Bluray player if I so desire to.

Is everyone else ready for the upgrade to Windows 10? Apparently, I am. I got a special message from Microsoft offering me the opportunity to upgrade to WinX for free. Yeah, I know. I thought it was a scam or something too but it’s apparently genuine. I guess they got sick of the people holding on to 3.1 all these years. Joke. Hopefully, it won’t be a total cluster… of a situation with the upgrade. Embarrassed smile

This is actually the first time I’m keeping up with everyone on an upgrade in Windows. Normally, I stay on an OS version for years…possibly a decade or more. Don’t ask me about Windows 98…please. Crying face

Oh yeah….confession time. I recently bought some stuff from Knit Picks. Now, given both my yarn and book diet until 2017, I’m pretty ashamed of myself right now. I was supposed to refrain from buying either of these things until January 2017. The only thing I could have sort of justified was the purchase of the Shawl Pin I got. Though, I’m giving serious thought to re-evaluating this whole Yarn diet thing. I make regular trips very close to my LYS now and it would be a shame to wait until 2017 to go there when they have such good reviews and yummy yarns. So, I think I’m going to cancel the yarn diet and keep the book diet. Party smile

Got the Maternal Parental the three part series That’s Entertainment! and it’s a combination birthday/Mother’s day gift. This is her first Bluray.

Oh man, I am so tired.

The Best of Intentions

I am planning on making a toy for my friend’s kid. She likes Hippos and I’ve found what seemed to be the perfect pattern. It’s not cartoonish or outlandish. It actually looks like a Hippopotamus. Just one problem. This pattern is written very strangely. No matter how I crochet it, I keep getting the wrong counts. It’s got to be me though because others have breezed through this thing with no problems. So, unless I ask them for help, I am left frustrated by this toy pattern. I would just make her a bear but she really REALLY likes Hippos.

In other news, I am ridiculously happy lately. No, it’s nothing to do with the change in weather (I’m more a Winter fan) or the Bipolar Disorder (I’m medication compliant and stable). I am happy because I’ve been talking, daily, to a guy I met on OKCupid. I still haven’t figured out a good code name to give him for this blog yet but know that he is deeply cared about by this Netizen. This doesn’t take one iota of care away from my feelings for the Handsome Man or anyone else. It’s just expanded my heart’s capacity to cherish relationships. I’ve been catching myself smiling lately and have just been so happy. Quite a heady experience.

The Aerogarden of Hope, as I have been calling it, finally has a 100% germination rate. I peeked in on the Curly Parsley this morning and found a little seedling looking back at me. So, I’m very happy. Coincidentally, this is the new vlog. It was filmed prior to the appearance of the Curly Parsley.

The water changing/add nutrients day is two days away. I’m looking forward to finally using my siphon for something practical. I promised the Maternal Parental I’d show her how the siphon is used. It still floors me that she doesn’t know what a siphon is. I may look a video up on YouTube so she doesn’t think it Black Magic and run away from the process.

Shockingly, this is the second thing I’ve written today and the fifth thing this week. I think the Writer’s Block may finally be melting. I hope the dam bursts on it soon. I have a backlog of writing prompts and a story to work on.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to try to make use of the remaining daylight by making an attempt on this black doily.

Have a fantastic day! Rolling on the floor laughingRed heartRainbow

Finished the October Rust Birthday Shawl!!!!!

This 100% wool shawl took me from the 2nd of April 2015 until the 24th of April 2015 to complete. Its made with mostly Knit Picks Swish Tonal in the colorway Wine Tasting. The edging is Lion Brand’s Superwash Merino Cashmere in the colorway Green Tea. I began and ended it on Type O Negative’s October Rust album too. I haven’t blocked it yet but it is huge now. I might just leave it as it is since the overall shape and condition of it is good. I don’t know if I could handle it if it were bigger than this.

For my next trick, I’m going to work on three projects at once. The Cosmos Doily Madness – Black Doilies, the Keepsake Lace Shawl in purple acrylic thread (good grief!) and the Rainstorm II socks. I’m hoping to get all of this done by July. Well, the doilies, I could bust those out in two days or less actually. The other stuff, July. The doilies, Mid-May?

This is the first I’ve written in my blog in almost a week. Hi! I’ve been nervous beyond reason regarding a banking snafu that recently got rectified. So, I’m hoping to get back to writing tonight or sooner.

Well, I’d better get to those Cosmos Doilies while I have the light.

Vlog Number Two and Writer’s Block Too

Later start time = Less sleepy and no blinding flash to avoid. Yay!

Almost completely unscripted this time, I managed to get through another eleven minutes of vlogging with few problems this time.

I got a much later start than last time, so I wasn’t fighting off yawns. I didn’t have the Flash of Doom in my eyes, so I didn’t squint or avoid the camera altogether. For only my second video, I consider this a resounding success.

About the only problem I have right now is a sudden case of Writer’s Block right when I need my writing abilities the most. As of this moment, there are no writing ideas in my head. This isn’t leading to a wave of consternation as I had expected either. I’m pretty much at peace with it. You see, I know that it’s only a temporary block. I went eight years without writing, so a few days is not going to send me packing.

Yes, I can see the irony in my writing this blog post. No, it’s not the same as “Writing”. With creative writing, I have to really delve into my mind to pull the thoughts out, make them coherent and then format it for Human consumption. These blog posts, on the other hand, are rather stream of consciousness and don’t require much in the realm of thinking. It’s just my internal dialog put on display.

So, I’m going to do two things: I’m going to pick a story to read for the next vlog and I’m going to crochet until I feel the writer’s block smashing in my mind. For the story, I’m considering going with Franz Kafka. I’m not sure which of his stories I’m going to read yet but I have The Castle and the Penal Colony. I received both as gifts from my ninth grade Mathematics teacher, Mister Pardi, who is a genius who chooses to teach us lesser mortals. He’s probably one of the coolest teachers I’ve ever had actually. I don’t say that lightly.

After I do this, I am going to crochet some on the October Rust Birthday Shawl. It is, after all, getting to be late in the month. I want to have this thing completed by May.

Before I do any of this, I need breakfast and tea.

Later, Peoples of the Sun! Rolling on the floor laughingRed heartRainbow

My First Formal Vlog. Yay!

First vlog. Yay!

I finally did it. I finally put a vlog up on YouTube that features me for an extended period of time. *cringe*

I am so exhausted right now. I need a new computer or a faster processor on the one I have. I’ve uploaded larger files from my phone at a quicker rate. Still, it’s done. Now that I’ve completed this task, I can go do some writing and then some crocheting.

And On The Eighth Day…

…TPTB threw me a curveball. I am agoraphobic and I cringe at the mere thought of going outside. The first part of today’s prompt would have me go out to “a local café, park, or public place” in order to observe something which I would later write about in great detail. Well, that’s not happening. Aside from the blinding panic attack I’m certain to suffer, I’m not creeping people’s lives even if it leads to an entertaining post on this blog. Smile with tongue out

Here’s the twist: I am meant to eliminate the adverbs in said writing. Oh joy be unconfined. They have gotten me at last. The TL;DR version of events is this: I went to a toxic elementary school where the majority of teachers and staff spent more time trying to score malicious jokes on some of the students rather than teach us these basics. I was one of those students. The end.

That is my preface admitting ignorance of this particular facet of writing. Do with it as you will. Now, I’m going to do this assignment thanks to Google, Wikipedia, Schoolhouse Rock and the best my imagination can come up with. Instead of going out there, I will relate the most recent thing in my memory in great detail. My story involving Melusine Gordon is the most recent thing that comes to mind. Fictional characters don’t mind being spied upon. Rolling on the floor laughing

The late September morning’s clouds were blood red contrasted with dark blue patches where the sky showed through. The young woman watched as the upper level winds blew the clouds towards her and over the awakening city of Norfolk, Virginia. The meteorologists on the news had been warning people all week about the possibility of the hurricane hitting but no one really believed it until it took a sudden turn towards the Virginia coastline.  Melusine Gordon cringed as she felt the warm ocean air against her face and thought of the likelihood of the category three storm coming ashore.

Shaking her head, Melusine thought to herself that she had more important things to worry about. She felt the bulge in her stomach with trepidation. Her fears were many. Since she’d become pregnant, the father of her child was nowhere to be found and she had no way to adequately support a growing family.

On top of this, her family rejected her on finding out that she was expecting a child and, try as she might, Melusine couldn’t seem to find a job anywhere she looked, and she did look hard for work. The prospect of going on WIC benefits and then SNAP didn’t appeal to her at all. Yes, they were there for the benefit of herself and her child but the added stigma of collecting benefits while being a walking statistic in the eyes of her community didn’t sit well with her.

That’s where her plan came into play. Melusine had an idea of where the father of her child, Richard, would be and decided to ambush him. She didn’t get pregnant on her own and she refused to raise this kid by herself or without at least some support from the father. Bracing herself against the expected conflict, Melusine walked over to Willoughby Spit and there she found him.

Richard Cromwell was by himself, looking out at the dark churning ocean. His mobile phone was vibrating in his jacket pocket non-stop. On hearing footfalls, he looked up and saw the last person he wanted to see in the world: his last warthog conquest. Richard could guess why Melusine Gordon was following him out to this spot. He’d heard the rumors of her family’s rejection but he didn’t care. It wasn’t his fault she was stupid enough to get knocked up. Even if he were the father, he felt he was too young to be saddled with the responsibility of taking care of some whiny brat for the next eighteen years or more.

One look and Melusine could see a reflection of every thought across his face.

“Ritchie, there’s no easy way to say this-” She began.

“Do you really think I give a damn if you’re pregnant?” He cut her off. “I’m not taking care of your ugly little bastard and that’s an end to it.”

“I didn’t get pregnant by myself and this kid is half you. Don’t you dare lay all the responsibility on me, Richard Cromwell!” Melusine shouted.

She watched, crestfallen, as he mocked her with his laughter before shoving past her and heading back into the city. Sinking to her knees, Melusine began crying just as the first bands of rain from the hurricane reached the shoreline. For one brief moment, she considered walking into the ocean but something inside her kept her from taking such a drastic step. Instead, she stood and stumbled back to her small rented room to think.

I think I have done this whole blog post without a single adverb.
