Sunday Random Ramblings

So, having many other things on my plate and not a lot of time to get them accomplished, I decided to cast on for this baby sweater on 11 July 2018. In truth, I don’t think it’s going to fit the intended recipient but it has been cathartic knitting on this adorable little thing.

The pattern is the Flax Sweater from Tin Can Knits, I just omitted the garter stitch panels on the sleeves to speed up the knitting process. The yarn is Swish Worsted from Knit Picks in the colorway Bordeaux which reads as pinkish on my monitor for some reason. It is actually a purple/wine color.

In the Aerogarden, I have three Basils and a Spearmint. I’m giving serious consideration to taking cuttings of these, letting them go to seed, growing them in my window or under a grow light and replacing them with edible flowers. They’re lovely plants and I enjoy the mint tea immensely but they’ve been in for ninety-two days now and there is a bit of Basil fatigue. I forgot how quickly hydroponically grown herbs grow despite regular cuttings.

I’m considering growing Nasturtiums as a replacement or something new that I haven’t grown before. At this point, I’m open to suggestions on what to grow.

In other news, the leg/feet swelling finally has a diagnosis. Chronic Venous Insufficiency. Yay, not. I have to see a specialist for multiple visits to treat this issue. While I’m happy to finally know what’s causing all the problems, I am greatly disturbed at the prospect of surgery however minor upon my person. Yet, pain is the greater motivator and it hurts like everything when my lower extremities swell up. This diagnosis is in addition to the bilateral bonespur/Plantar Fasciitis issue. Don’t you wish you were me? *duck lips* AnnoyedSarcastic smile

Thankfully, one of the treatments is something I was already doing prior to the mega-swell up event from a few weeks ago. I will be resuming walking my eight plus miles five out of seven days a week within one week. Party smile

Procrastination Station

In a world where pain runs the show…

Hello all. It has been some time since I last posted. I’ve been in some measurable amount of pain over the past few months and it all finally came to the point where I had to see a specialist. For months now, I’ve had bilateral Plantar Fasciitis. I can definitely attest that this is not a fun thing to have. I went from walking two to four hours a day in the morning to screaming and crying bloody murder upon standing. Needless to say, I’ve been spending a lot of time utilizing my rest mode function. Which has exacerbated the weight issue which has, in turn, exacerbated the Plantar Fasciitis issue. *headdesk*

I’ve been in so much pain that a lot of complex things have fallen by the wayside in favor of less complicated subjects. I’ve picked up yarn dyeing when I should be knitting a lace blanket. I’ve been doing a lot of horizontal reading when I should be vertical and writing. I have sorely neglected the upkeep of my plants, my sweater is on hiatus and my studies have dropped off considerably as I have to be vertical for a good portion of those tasks.

After the second visit to my physician, she could see that I was fed up with this whole thing and gave me a referral to see a podiatrist. It was worth it going to get some temporary relief from the pain. The good doctor taped my feet up and, until yesterday evening, it was working like a charm. I hardly felt the pain. I was diagnosed with Bone Spurs which are causing the Plantar Fasciitis injury. Basically, the bone spurs are irritating the tendons. The next step from here is to take some NSAIDs to relieve the pain. If the NSAIDs don’t work effectively, it’ll be time to get more radical. *ominous music*

Enough about my feet.

This is what I’ve managed to get done on the blanket since the last posting. I am presently one row shy of one complete pattern repeat completed. I really like this pattern because, unlike the next mentioned pattern, I don’t need my glasses for it.

I’m also making socks. This is a Kate Atherley pattern I came across on Ravelry a while ago. It is pretty much my go to pattern to fit my gigantic feet because it is sized all the way up to men’s sizes and I wear a men’s 9.5/43cm. I’m making four at a time on one 60” Size 2.75mm circular needle. With the exception of the inevitable tangles, all is going well. I need some new socks. I’m calling them Eris and Harmonia.

I have also been knitting on my Flax sweater. The body is complete. I’ve tried it on and it fits. All I need to do now is knit the sleeves and weave in the ends. The picture below is me binding off in pattern. Between needing to finish the blanket and the sudden heat wave a couple of weeks ago, I put this sweater on hiatus for a bit.

In addition to this, I have been teaching myself how to dye yarn. Thus far, I have two cakes I’ve dyed myself. These colors are called Redshift and Decomposition of Light. The yarn is Lion Brand’s Fisherman’s Wool.

There is also one collaborative effort done with the Maternal Parental. No name as of yet. The yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash.

As if that weren’t enough for my plate, I’ve got even more planned for the months of March and April. I’ve got a few classes I’m planning on attending, feet willing. I’m also doing Camp NaNoWriMo. I got to fifty-thousand plus words on my story last November but I didn’t complete it. I’d like to set aside time to work on it specifically. Camp NaNo seems like a good opportunity to do that. I’m going for five hundred pages of writing. Hopefully, I can get that done.

I have to go now. Food is being called for and I am being summoned for its preparation. Until the next time, have a safe and fantastic journey around the Sun. Take care, my friends. Rolling on the floor laughingRed heartRainbow
